Mobilegeddon is Here. Are You Ready?

Google’s ‘Mobilegeddon’ has arrived for sites that aren’t mobile-friendly.

This change in the Google algorithm is not new news. But what is new – the deadline, the big change arrived last week. If you have not made your site mobile friendly, you are likely starting to feel the SEO pressure.

Google isn’t going for the jugular with this change. They will still use other criteria when deciding how to rank a website or webpage. However, mobile-friendliness is high on their list. If you don’t know if your web site or various institutional pages are mobile-friendly, go here and use their tool to check, https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/.

The reason Google is doing this is understandable. Analytics show that more and more people are using search on a mobile device. They have always had a hard time getting advertisers to pay for mobile search and now that mobile search is the growing component of search, Google cannot afford to have other search engines offer a better search experience and lose those ad dollars.

So yes, they are strong arming us but it is for our own good, sort of.
