New Logo and Advertising Campaign For Neumann University
Paskill Stapleton & Lord design new logo and develop rebranding campaign for Neumann UniversityJuly 2009
Glenside, PA, July 30, 2009 - On May 1, 2009, Neumann College became Neumann University, and along with the new status came a new logo. Paskill Stapleton & Lord created the new logo and developed the ensuing advertising and media campaign that will rebrand the new university with its public.
The process of achieving university status took more than two years from concept to completion, and the design and buy-in for the new logo took almost as long. When it was unveiled to the 2009 graduating class this May in Aston, PA, the entire audience of over 3,000 people applauded.
“There were a number of stakeholders who had strong opinions during the early stages of logo development,” said Bob Oxman, Paskill Stapleton & Lord's Vice President and Creative Services Team Leader. “We were careful throughout the process to make sure we built consensus along the way without compromising the dynamic nature of the logo. Not only did we receive applause from the graduating class, but also from a gathering of over 300 employees.”
The Neumann University icon is a visual representation of the University's dignity and strength. Its outer shape represents the University's solid and stable foundation, while the division of color represents the dawn of a new day and unlimited opportunity. The white arc that divides the icon is echoed in the roofline of the Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development, and is a shape reminiscent of the arches used in religious architecture to represent simplicity and strength. In addition, the arc represents Neumann University's hilltop location in Aston, Pennsylvania.
The goal of the advertising and media campaign is to rebrand the Neumann University.
“We have just launched a comprehensive marketing campaign which includes advertisements in public transit locations, outdoor billboards, television, radio, and print as well as direct mail and email,” said Oxman. “With limited dollars we have been careful to target locations and key audiences that will make the greatest impact. When the campaign ends, it will be hard for people not to know that Neumann is now a University.”
