Case Study: University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee

About USFSM:

With the transition from a regional campus of the University of South Florida to a comprehensive four-year university, USFSM had new enrollment goals focused on students who would commit to USFSM for their entire degree. Meeting the new goals required a cultural change for the admissions staff; counselors needed recruiting skills to be more proactive instead of transactional.

The Project:

To help with these transitions, USFSM hired PS&L for the Sales Management and Academic Recruitment Training Workshop (SMART). This 2-day on-campus workshop imparted a relationship-selling philosophy for the academic setting.
PS&L subsequently was hired for long-term enrollment consulting to assist with the development of a comprehensive, integrated student recruitment and marketing program. The first phase of the engagement involved a review of USFSM’s current recruiting and marketing initiatives.
After 10 months, the fall of 2017 saw a 26% increase in First-Time-in-College Students and a 22% increase in Transfer Students.
